What is Plantar Fasciitis?

This tissue is present in our anatomy to help connect the heel of the foot to its toes. Generally put, the plantar fascia is the ligament that offers our foot’s structure its arch support. The term plantar fasciitis is used when the plantar fascia has come into contact with chronic inflammation.
What are the Causes of Plantar Fasciitis?
Although there are no specific restrictions to who can be diagnosed with plantar fasciitis, this condition usually tends to target people of the middle-aged variety. The reasoning behind this is that the causes of plantar fasciitis are due when someone has overused its feet over a long course of time.
Since older people tend to have been on their feet for longer amounts of time than the younger generation, they are often targeted by this condition. However, someone of a younger age can still end up having this condition, especially if they spend extensive hours on their feet, or strain themselves athletically.
Why are Some People More Prone to Plantar Fasciitis Than Others?

One of the causes of plantar fasciitis is when someone has high arches, they are more susceptible to acquiring plantar fasciitis. This is because their plantar fascia is going to encounter larger amounts of strain, which will undoubtedly cause the ligament to become stretched and strained. A good way for someone to prevent this is for them to constantly wear custom-made arch supports.
Excessive pronation is a term used to describe someone’s feet rolling outward when they walk. This is usually caused by a structural issue that leads the individual to seek balance on the outside of their feet. Walking this way can cause them to put excessive strain on their plantar fascia. In order to prevent this chronic inflammation, people with excessive pronation should be wearing custom-made orthopedic insoles.
One of another causes of plantar fasciitis is when individuals have flat feet. They are also at risk for experiencing inflammation due to their lack of arch.
